This research explores the Baite, iconic alpine shelters of the French, Italian, and Swiss Alps. Through their history, their adaptation to climate challenges, and their social role, this thesis examines the various socio-spatial conditions of conviviality in high-altitude environments. How do these places foster a sense of emotional security through their architectural design? By combining frugality, comfort, and a dialogue between interior and exterior spaces, the Baite embody spaces of human exchange and the preservation of alpine heritage, in harmony with an ever-evolving environment.
